These crispy Chiquita plantain clusters are called "little spiders" or "arañitas" because of their spidery shape. They're delicious served plain, with dipping sauce or spicy guacamole.

Ingredients:

  • 2   green Chiquita plantains
  • 1/2   tsp. Garlic salt
  •   Canola oil, for frying

quick Chiquita Plantain Arañitas Recipe

Peel plantains and cut in half crosswise. Thinly shred plantains using a food processor or box grater. Place in a bowl and toss with garlic salt. In a large, heavy skillet heat about 1/2-inch of oil to medium-high heat. With your hands, scoop small clumps of plantains. Squeeze together lightly then carefully place in hot oil. Work in batches to not crowd the pan. Cook for about 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Do not allow to over brown. Drain on paper towels and repeat with remaining plantains.
